Getting There

  • Car

    From the center of Hitachi, take Route 6 south towards Mito. Continue on Route 6 for approximately 40 km until you reach the junction with the Joban Expressway (E6). Merge onto the Joban Expressway heading towards Tokyo. After about 70 km, exit at the Kasumigaseki Interchange. Follow signs for Chiyoda City and then for Edo Castle, which is located at 1-1 Chiyoda, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 100-8111. Parking options nearby may incur additional costs.

  • Train

    Start your journey at Hitachi Station. Take the JR Joban Line to Ueno Station. This trip takes about 1 hour and costs approximately 1,400 yen. From Ueno Station, transfer to the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line and travel to Nihonbashi Station. Change there to the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line and get off at Otemachi Station. From Otemachi Station, it's a short 10-minute walk to Edo Castle Ruins. Total travel time is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

  • Bus

    From Hitachi Station, board the Ibaraki Kotsu bus heading to Mito Station. This will take about 30 minutes and costs around 600 yen. Once at Mito Station, transfer to the JR Joban Line towards Ueno and travel for about 1 hour. Once at Ueno, follow the same directions as the train option to reach Edo Castle Ruins. Total travel time may take about 2 to 2.5 hours.
