Car
If you are driving from the Kyoto countryside, take the Meishin Expressway to the Kyoto-minami IC exit. From there, follow Route 1 (also known as the Kyoto Ring Road) towards the city center. Continue on Route 1 until you reach the intersection with Kujo-dori. Turn left onto Kujo-dori and drive straight for about 2 kilometers. Tōji Temple will be on your right at 1 Kujocho, Minami Ward, Kyoto, 601-8473. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that it may incur a fee, typically around 500-1000 JPY depending on the duration of your stay.

Public Transportation
To reach Tōji Temple using public transportation, start by making your way to Kyoto Station. From Kyoto Station, take the Kintetsu Kyoto Line and board a train heading towards Nara. Get off at Toji Station, which is just one stop away. From Toji Station, it is about a 10-minute walk to Tōji Temple. Exit the station and head south. Follow the signs towards Tōji Temple, which will guide you directly to the entrance at 1 Kujocho, Minami Ward, Kyoto, 601-8473. The train fare from Kyoto Station to Toji Station is approximately 210 JPY.

If you prefer to take a bus, from Kyoto Station, you can board the Kyoto City Bus number 206 or 208. Both buses will take you towards Tōji Temple. Get off at the Toji-inmae bus stop, which is located just a short walk from the temple. The bus fare is around 230 JPY. After getting off, walk north for about 5 minutes, and you will reach Tōji Temple at 1 Kujocho, Minami Ward, Kyoto, 601-8473.
