Getting There

  • Train

    From Kyoto Station, board the JR Nara Line (express) bound for Nara. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes. Get off at Uji Station. Upon exiting Uji Station, follow the signs to the East Exit. After exiting, you will see a large road; turn left onto this road.

  • Walking

    Continue walking straight for about 15 minutes along the main road. You will pass by several shops and cafes. Look for signs pointing towards Byodo-in Temple. The temple will be on your right-hand side as you approach.

  • Alternative Train

    Alternatively, from Kyoto Station, you can take the Keihan Electric Railway to Uji Station. This route requires a transfer at Chushojima Station. The total journey may take around 45 minutes. Once you arrive at Uji Station, follow the same walking directions as above.
