Experience Daitoku-ji Somon (Main Gate)

Getting There

  • Public Transport - Bus

    From Kyoto Station, take bus number 204 or 205. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Daitoku-ji Mae' bus stop. Once you exit the bus, you'll see the Daitoku-ji Somon (Main Gate) a short walk away. Head straight along the road for about 5 minutes, and you will arrive at the main gate.

  • Public Transport - Subway

    From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line subway towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at 'Kuramaguchi Station' (about 15 minutes). From the station, take exit 1 and walk north along Kuramaguchi Street for about 10 minutes. Turn left onto Daitokuji Street and walk for another 5 minutes until you reach Daitoku-ji Somon (Main Gate).

  • Walking

    If you're near the Kyoto Imperial Palace, you can walk to Daitoku-ji Somon. Head north from the Palace towards Imadegawa Street. Walk east along Imadegawa Street until you reach Daitokuji Street. Turn left and walk north for about 15 minutes. The entrance to Daitoku-ji will be on your right.

  • Public Transport - Train

    From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nijo Line to Nijo Station (approximately 5 minutes). Transfer to the Tozai Line and head towards Uzumasa Tenjingawa. Get off at 'Nanzenji/Eikando' station (about 20 minutes). Exit the station, and take bus number 204 towards 'Daitoku-ji Mae.' After around 10 minutes, get off at the bus stop, and you will be just a short walk from Daitoku-ji Somon (Main Gate).
