Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Subway Line (the dark green line) towards Kokusaikaikan Station. Alight at Shijo Station (about 4 stops). Once you exit the station, take Exit 1. From there, walk along Shijo Street until you reach the intersection with Karasuma Street. Turn left onto Karasuma Street and continue walking for about 10 minutes. Turn right onto Ogisakayacho Street, and Genso-an will be on your left at 301 Ogisakayacho.

    If you're staying in the downtown area around Nishiki Market, you can walk to Genso-an. From Nishiki Market, head south along Nishikikoji Street until you reach Shijo Street. Turn left onto Shijo Street and walk east until you reach Karasuma Street. Turn right onto Karasuma Street, and then take the first left onto Ogisakayacho Street. Genso-an will be on your left at 301 Ogisakayacho.

    From Kyoto Station, take Bus No. 205 or 17 towards Kiyomizu-dera. Alight at the 'Shijo Karasuma' bus stop. After getting off the bus, walk north along Karasuma Street for about 5 minutes. Turn left onto Ogisakayacho Street, and Genso-an will be on your left at 301 Ogisakayacho.
