If you're near Kyoto Station, take the Karasuma Line subway towards Kokusaikaikan. Get off at Shijo Station (approximately 10 minutes). From Shijo Station, take Exit 6 and head towards the intersection of Shijo and Karasuma. Turn right onto Shijo Street and walk straight until you reach the Kawaramachi intersection. Cross the street and continue straight on to Gion Avenue. After about 10 minutes of walking, you'll reach the Gion area.
