Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Nara Station, exit the station and head east towards Sanjo-dori Avenue. Turn left onto Sanjo-dori and walk straight for about 15 minutes. After you pass through the Naramachi district, continue straight until you reach the intersection at the entrance of Heijō Palace Site Historical National Park. The entrance is located on the right side.

    From Nara Station, take the Kintetsu Nara Line to Kintetsu Nara Station. Exit the station and walk south towards the main street. At the intersection, take bus number 70 or 73 from the bus stop in front of the station. The bus ride will take approximately 10 minutes. Get off at the Heijō Palace Site stop. From there, the entrance to the park is just a short walk ahead.

  • Bicycle

    If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bicycle from one of the rental shops near Nara Station. After renting, head east on Sanjo-dori, then turn left at the intersection with Nakatanidori. Continue straight until you reach the Heijō Palace Site. There are bike racks available at the entrance of the national park.
