If you are driving from Zao Onsen, take Route 286 heading towards Yamagata city. Continue on this road for about 30 minutes. As you approach Yamagata, follow signs for Yamagata Castle and Kajo Park. You will find parking available near the park entrance. Be sure to check parking fees, which are generally around 500-800 yen for a day.

Public Transportation (Bus)
From Zao Onsen, you can take a bus to Yamagata Station. Buses run frequently, and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Once at Yamagata Station, look for the local buses that head to Kajo Park. The ride will take about 10 minutes. Be aware that a bus fare from Zao Onsen to Yamagata Station is around 1,000 yen, and the local bus fare to Kajo Park is about 200 yen.

Walking from Yamagata Station
If you prefer to walk from Yamagata Station after arriving, Kajo Park is approximately a 20-minute walk. Exit the station and head south on the main road. Follow the signs towards Yamagata Castle. Kajo Park is located just adjacent to the castle area, and the entrance is well marked.
