If you are driving, start from the main entrance of Mount Elgon National Park. Head towards the town of Kapsokwony, which is approximately 20 kilometers away. Follow the signs to Kapsokwony and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Once you reach Kapsokwony, look for the XMCG+WM6 location on your GPS. The Mt. Elgon Forest Reserve is located just outside of Kapsokwony. Make sure to have a map or GPS device as the roads can be tricky. There may be parking available near the reserve entrance, so plan for a short walk from your parking spot to the entrance.

Public Transportation
To reach Mt. Elgon Forest Reserve by public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from the nearest town or city to Mount Elgon National Park, such as Kitale. Board a matatu heading towards Kapsokwony, which should cost around 200 KES. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive at Kapsokwony, you can ask for directions to the Mt. Elgon Forest Reserve, which is located at XMCG+WM6. Depending on where the matatu drops you off, you may need to take a short walk or hire a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to cover the last few kilometers to the reserve.
