Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as some roads can be unpaved.

To reach Mt. Elgon Forest Reserve using public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from any major town in the vicinity, such as Kitale or Bungoma, to Kapsokwony. Once you arrive in Kapsokwony, you may need to hire a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you directly to the Mt. Elgon Forest Reserve location at XMCG+WM6. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand, which can range from 200 to 500 Kenyan Shillings depending on the distance.
