Seebühne Bregenz: A Stage on the Water

The Seebühne Bregenz, or Lake Stage Bregenz, is the world's largest floating stage, hosting the Bregenzer Festspiele every July and August. Since its inception in 1946, the festival has grown into an internationally recognized event, drawing visitors from around the globe. The Vienna Symphony Orchestra has been a key part of the festival since the beginning. The stage itself is a marvel of engineering and design. Each year, a new elaborate set is constructed, often incorporating elements of the lake into the performance. Past productions have included impressive stagings of operas like *Rigoletto* and *Carmen*, as well as musicals such as *West Side Story*. In 2024 and 2025, the stage will feature Carl Maria von Weber's opera *Der Freischütz*.
