If you are driving, start by heading to the C&O Canal National Historical Park visitor center or any access point within the park. From there, take the George Washington Memorial Parkway North. Merge onto MD-190 W (River Road) for approximately 5 miles. Continue onto MacArthur Blvd, and follow it for about 3 miles. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park entrance will be on your right at 11710 Macarthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854. Parking is available on-site.

To reach the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historic Park via public transport, you should first take a bus or metro to the nearest station. From Washington, D.C., you can take the Metro Red Line to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station. From there, transfer to the Ride On Bus Route 34 towards Potomac. Get off at the MacArthur Blvd & Falls Rd stop. Walk about 0.5 miles south on MacArthur Blvd to reach the park entrance located at 11710 Macarthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854. Be sure to check the latest bus schedules and fares on the Montgomery County Ride On website.
