From anywhere in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, head to the nearest major road. If you are near the Great Falls area, take MacArthur Boulevard (MD-190) toward Potomac. Follow MD-190 for about 1.5 miles. The park entrance will be on your right at 11710 Macarthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854. There is no entrance fee for the park, but parking may be limited during peak hours.

If you are using public transportation, take the Metro to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station on the Red Line. From there, you can catch the Ride On bus #34, which travels toward the Great Falls area. Get off at the stop closest to 11710 Macarthur Blvd. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may vary by time of day. The fare for the Ride On bus is typically $1.00 to $1.50.

For those who prefer biking, the C&O Canal Towpath offers access to Great Falls. If starting from a nearby area within the park, follow the Towpath heading towards Great Falls. The ride can be scenic but may require some physical endurance due to varying terrain. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring water. There are no additional fees for biking on the Towpath.
