Bus
From Oaxaca, head to the central bus terminal, Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oaxaca. You can take a taxi or a local bus to get there. Once at the terminal, purchase a ticket for a bus heading to Mitla. The trip takes approximately 1 hour. Upon arrival in Mitla, get off at the main bus stop.

Walking
From the Mitla bus stop, walk towards the main road (Carretera Federal 190). Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection where you see a sign for 'Zempoaltepetl'. Take a left at this intersection and follow the road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs for 'Acceso a las Cuevas con Pinturas Rupestres' along the way. The entrance will be on your right.

Shared Taxi (Colectivo)
Alternatively, from the Mitla bus stop, you can take a shared taxi (colectivo) to the entrance of the caves. Look for the colectivos that say 'Zempoaltepetl' or 'Cuevas'. These are usually parked near the bus stop. The fare is usually very affordable, and the trip will take about 10-15 minutes. Be sure to tell the driver your destination.
