    From Oaxaca, head to the main bus terminal, Terminal de Autobuses de Pasajeros de Oaxaca (TAPO). Look for buses heading to Mitla. The trip will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive at the Mitla bus station, exit the station and head towards the main road (Carretera Federal 190). Cueva RUPESTRE is approximately a 20-minute walk from the Mitla bus station. Head east on the main road, then take a left on the road leading towards San Pablo Villa de Mitla. Follow the signs and local directions to Cueva RUPESTRE, which will be located in the vicinity of the archaeological site.

  • Shared Taxi (Colectivo)

    At the same bus terminal, look for shared taxis (colectivos) that go to Mitla. These taxis will leave when full and can be a quicker option than the bus. The journey will also take about 1 hour. Once you arrive in Mitla, the taxi will drop you off at the center of town. From there, walk towards the main road (Carretera Federal 190) and follow the same route as described for the bus. Cueva RUPESTRE is about a 20-minute walk from the center of Mitla.
