From Oaxaca city center, head to the terminal de autobuses (bus terminal) located at Calle 5 de Febrero, near the intersection with Avenida Juárez. Look for the buses heading to Tlacolula de Matamoros. Purchase a ticket for a bus that goes directly to Tlacolula, which departs frequently throughout the day. The ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Once you arrive at the Tlacolula bus station, exit the terminal and walk towards the main square (Plaza Principal). Templo de Santa María de la Asunción is located just a few blocks away at 2 de Abril No. 42. You can either walk straight down Calle 5 de Febrero and turn left onto 2 de Abril, or ask locals for directions if needed.

From Oaxaca city, go to the shared taxi area located near the Mercado de Abastos. Look for the colectivos (shared taxis) that have signs indicating they go to Tlacolula. The fare is usually around 30-40 pesos. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Tlacolula, ask the driver to drop you off at the main square (Plaza Principal). From there, the Templo de Santa María de la Asunción is only a short 5-10 minute walk. Head west on Calle 5 de Febrero, then turn left onto 2 de Abril to reach the temple.
