From the city center of Oaxaca, head to the ADO bus terminal located at Avenida 5 de Febrero. Purchase a ticket to Tlacolula de Matamoros. Buses run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Tlacolula bus terminal, exit and walk straight down the main street (Calle 2 de Abril) for about 10 minutes until you reach Templo de Santa María de la Asunción, located at 2 de Abril No. 42.

Shared Van (Colectivo)
From the city center of Oaxaca, make your way to the corner of Calle Independencia and Avenida Juárez, where you can find shared vans (colectivos) heading to Tlacolula. The cost is usually cheaper than the bus and the vans leave when full. The ride takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Tlacolula, look for Calle 2 de Abril and walk towards 2 de Abril No. 42 to reach Templo de Santa María de la Asunción.

If you are staying nearby in Oaxaca, you can walk to the bus terminal or colectivo pickup point. From the Zócalo, head north on Calle de Manuel Garcia Vigil until you reach Avenida 5 de Febrero. Follow the avenue until you see the ADO terminal on your left. Alternatively, if you prefer walking directly to Tlacolula, follow Calle de Independencia to the north, which will eventually lead you to the outskirts of the city, although this may take a couple of hours.
