Letras Playa del Carmen: A Colorful Icon of Quintana Roo

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are already in Downtown Playa del Carmen, you can walk to Letras Playa del Carmen quite easily. Start by heading towards the intersection of Avenida 5 and Calle 12. From there, walk south on Avenida 5 for about 3 blocks until you reach Calle 10. Turn left onto Calle 10, and continue walking until you reach Avenida 10. You should see the large, colorful letters of Letras Playa del Carmen on your right side. It's about a 10-15 minute walk depending on your pace.

• Bicycle

  Bicycles are a popular way to get around Playa del Carmen. If you have rented a bicycle or can borrow one, start from the central plaza (Parque Fundadores) and head north on Avenida 5. Continue until you reach Calle 10, then turn left. The letters will be in sight on Avenida 10, a short ride away. Remember to park your bike securely once you arrive. Rentals can cost around 100 pesos per hour.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a faster option, you can take a taxi. From any point in Downtown Playa del Carmen, simply flag down a taxi or use a ride-hailing app. Inform the driver you want to go to Letras Playa del Carmen located in Centro, near Avenida 10. The ride should cost around 50 to 80 pesos, depending on your starting point.

• Public Transport (Colectivo)

  While primarily used for longer distances, you might find a colectivo (shared van) that goes towards the direction of the beach areas. However, it is not necessary for such a short distance within Downtown. If you do take one, ensure to tell the driver 'Centro' and get off near Avenida 10. The fare is about 30 pesos, but this method may not be the most efficient for such a short journey.
