To reach James Island County Park from downtown Charleston, take the CARTA bus number 40 (the James Island route) from the downtown bus terminal located at 181 W Meeting St. Board the bus heading towards James Island. Stay on the bus for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the stop at 'Riverland Dr @ Fort Johnson Rd.' After getting off, walk south on Riverland Drive for about 10 minutes. The park entrance will be on your right at 871 Riverland Dr.

If you prefer biking, rent a bike from a local shop in downtown Charleston. Head southeast on E Bay St toward Meeting St, then turn right onto Meeting St, which becomes Folly Rd. James Island County Park will be on your left at 871 Riverland Dr.

Start by heading east on East Bay St toward the intersection with Broad St. Continue on East Bay St until you reach the Waterfront Park. From there, follow the signs leading to the Ashley River Bridge. Cross the bridge, and once you reach the other side, turn left and walk along Folly Rd. Walk for about 2.5 miles until you reach Riverland Dr. Turn right and walk for about 1 mile to find the park entrance at 871 Riverland Dr.
