    If you are driving, start from the visitor center located at 9922 Front Street, Empire, MI 49630. Head northwest on Front Street toward M-22. Turn left onto M-22 and follow it for about 8 miles. You will pass through Empire and continue until you reach Glen Arbor. Once in Glen Arbor, turn left onto Lake Street, then right onto Cottonwood Road. Follow Cottonwood Road until you see the parking area for Cottonwood Trail on your left.

    If you are using public transportation, you can use the local bus service that operates in the area. Check the schedule for the 'Benzie Bus' which provides routes through Glen Arbor. You will want to get off at the Glen Arbor stop, which is located near the intersection of Lake Street and M-22. From there, you can walk about 0.5 miles to Cottonwood Trail by heading east on Lake Street, then turning right onto Cottonwood Road. The trailhead will be on your left.
