Walking
Start at the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 209 Grey Street. From there, head east on Grey Street until you reach the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Childers Road. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Wainui Road. Turn right onto Wainui Road and follow it for approximately 2 kilometers. You will eventually reach the coast. As you approach the coastline, look for a sign directing you to Okitu Scenic Reserve. Follow the path leading to the reserve, which will be located on your left.

Public Transport
From the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre, catch a bus heading towards Wainui Beach. Buses operate regularly; check the local schedule for exact times. Get off at the Wainui Road stop. From there, walk back towards the intersection with Wainui Road and follow the same directions as the walking route. Head towards the coastline, and look for signage pointing to Okitu Scenic Reserve.

Cycling
If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local rental shop in Gisborne. Start at the Gisborne i-SITE Visitor Centre and head east on Grey Street to the roundabout. Take the first exit onto Childers Road and cycle straight for about 1.5 kilometers. Turn right onto Wainui Road and continue cycling for about 2 kilometers until you reach the coast. Look for the sign directing you to Okitu Scenic Reserve as you approach the coastline. The reserve will be on your left.
