Walking
To reach Dr. James A Mills, start at the Kaikoura Visitor Centre located at 96 West End, Kaikoura 7300. From the Visitor Centre, head west towards West End. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with State Highway 1. Cross the road and follow the signs towards the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. The walkway begins at the end of the road. Once on the walkway, follow the path along the peninsula, enjoying the scenic views. Continue along the walkway for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the observation deck area at Kaikōura Peninsula, where Dr. James A Mills is located.

Biking
If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Kaikoura. Start at the Kaikoura Visitor Centre (96 West End). From there, cycle along West End towards State Highway 1. Take a left onto State Highway 1 and continue until you see the signs for the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. Turn off onto the walkway and cycle along the path. The ride will take you about 15-20 minutes to reach the observation deck area where Dr. James A Mills is located.

However, you can take a local shuttle service from your accommodation in Kaikoura to the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway.
