Walking
Starting from the Kaikoura Visitor Centre, head south on Marine Parade. Walk along the seafront until you reach the intersection with the Esplanade. Turn left onto the Esplanade and continue walking until you reach the start of the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. Follow the walkway as it winds around the coastline. Keep an eye out for signs directing you towards the Kaikoura Seal Colony, which is located along the pathway. The colony is a short walk from the walkway, just past the lookout point.

If you have rented a bike in Kaikoura, start from the bike rental location and head towards the coast on Marine Parade. Ride south along Marine Parade until you reach the intersection with the Esplanade. Turn left on the Esplanade, then look for the entrance to the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway. Cycle along this scenic path, enjoying views of the ocean and the surrounding landscape. Follow the signs to the Kaikoura Seal Colony, which will be along the walkway. The ride is pleasant and takes approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on your pace.
