Bus
From Rotorua city center, head to the Rotorua Bus Station located at 1170 Haupapa Street. Take the bus that services the route towards Lake Ōkareka. The bus ride usually takes around 30 minutes. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at the closest stop to Acacia Road.

Walking from Bus Stop
Once you get off at the stop nearest to Acacia Road, walk towards Acacia Road. The Lake Okareka Reserve and Walkway is located at 50/62 Acacia Road. Follow Acacia Road until you reach the designated entrance to the reserve. The walkway will be clearly marked, and you can enjoy the scenic views along the way.

Bike Rental
If you're interested in biking, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in Rotorua. Once you have your bike, head towards Lake Ōkareka via the main roads. The route is approximately 12 kilometers from the city center. Follow the signs directing you to Lake Ōkareka, and make sure to navigate to Acacia Road, where you will find the entrance to the reserve.

Walking from Rotorua
For those who prefer walking, you can walk from the Rotorua city center to Lake Ōkareka. It is approximately a 10-kilometer walk, which can take around 2 hours. Head southeast on Fenton Street, then continue onto Lake Road, and follow the signs to Lake Ōkareka. Once you reach Acacia Road, follow it until you reach the reserve.
