After disembarking at the Whakarewarewa stop, walk towards the Blue Lake Track. Head southwest on Te Ngae Road (SH 30) for about 800 meters until you reach the entrance to the Blue Lake Track on your left. The track starts at the Blue Lake, which is a well-known local landmark.

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops in Rotorua. Follow the same route as the walking directions, but enjoy the ride along Te Ngae Road.
