Public Bus
Start at the Rotorua i-SITE Visitor Centre located at 1170 Fenton Street. From there, take the 'Rotorua to Lake Ōkareka' bus service. The bus typically departs every hour. Make sure to check the latest schedule at the i-SITE. Stay on the bus until you reach the Lake Ōkareka stop, which is about a 20-minute ride. Once you get off at Lake Ōkareka, walk towards Tarawera Road and follow the road for about 15 minutes until you reach the Blue and Green Lakes Lookout.

If you are already near the Lake Ōkareka area, start your walk from the Lake Ōkareka Domain on the western side of the lake. Follow the path that leads towards Tarawera Road. After about a 30-minute walk along the scenic route, you will arrive at the Blue and Green Lakes Lookout. The lookout is well-marked with signs.
