Getting There

  • Bus

    From Taupo town center, head to the Taupo i-SITE Visitor Information Centre located at 30 Tongariro Street. Here, you can catch a local bus to Wairakei. The bus service to Wairakei runs regularly, so check the schedule in advance. Once you reach Wairakei, disembark at the stop nearest to the Craters of the Moon, which is approximately a 15-minute walk. Head south on Wairakei Drive, then turn left onto Karapiti Road. Continue on this road until you reach the entrance of Craters of the Moon at 171 Karapiti Road.
