Hiking
From the main entrance of Machu Picchu, walk towards the Inca Trail which leads you down to the town of Aguas Calientes. Continue walking through Aguas Calientes until you reach the bus station. From there, take a bus to Urubamba. Once you arrive in Urubamba, locate the Salt Mine of Maras by following the signs or asking locals for directions. The mines are approximately a 10-minute walk from the bus drop-off point.

Public Transport (Bus)
Starting at the Machu Picchu ruins, take a bus down to Aguas Calientes. Once in Aguas Calientes, head to the bus station and take a bus that goes to Urubamba. Upon arrival in Urubamba, ask locals for directions to the Salt Mine of Maras, which is roughly 6 km away. You may need to either walk or take a taxi from the Urubamba bus station to reach the Salt Mine.

After exploring Machu Picchu, take a bus back down to Aguas Calientes. From Aguas Calientes, you can hire a taxi to take you directly to the Salt Mine of Maras. Inform the driver of your destination, and the journey will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
