Car
If you are driving from Edisto Island, start by heading north on SC-174 toward the Edisto Beach State Park. Continue for about 10 miles, then merge onto US-17 N toward Charleston. Stay on US-17 N for approximately 35 miles. Once you reach Charleston, follow the signs for the downtown area and take the exit for Lockwood Drive. Turn left onto Lockwood Drive and continue until it intersects with Broad Street. Turn right onto Broad Street, then left onto Concord Street. The Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center will be on your right at 340 Concord St.

Public Transportation
To reach the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center using public transportation, you will first need to take the Edisto Island Shuttle to the nearest bus stop that connects to Charleston's public transport. From Edisto Island, catch the shuttle to the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) bus stop. Once in Charleston, take the CARTA bus towards downtown (Line 10 or Line 11) and get off at the stop closest to Concord Street. From there, walk to 340 Concord St, which is about a 5-minute walk towards the waterfront.
