If you are starting from the city center, head to the nearest metro station. Take Line 2 (Red Line) from stations like Sol or Gran Vía and travel towards Cuatro Caminos. Get off at the Retiro station. Once you exit the station, follow the signs towards Parque del Retiro, which is only a short walk away.

Walking
After exiting the Retiro metro station, turn right and walk towards the main entrance of Parque del Retiro. Continue walking straight until you reach the central pathway of the park. Hernani Gate is located on the east side of the park. Look for the signposts directing you to Puerta de Hernani, and you will find it within a few minutes' walk.

Bus
From anywhere in Madrid, you can also take a bus to the Retiro area. Look for buses that stop near the park, such as line 20, 26, or 152. Alight at the nearest stop to Parque del Retiro. After getting off the bus, follow the pedestrian paths towards the park entrance and proceed to Hernani Gate as described before.
