Getting There

Bus
Start at the Kandy Bus Stand. Look for buses heading towards 'Mahiyangana' or 'Haputale'. These buses frequently pass through the area and will take you toward the Maddeala region. The bus fare is very affordable, usually around 50-100 LKR. Ask the conductor to drop you at Pitawala. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic.

Walking
Once you arrive at Pitawala, disembark from the bus. From the bus stop, you will need to walk a short distance. Head towards the main road and look for a sign pointing towards 'Riverston'. Follow this road, which will eventually narrow into a footpath. The walk from the bus stop to the viewpoint will take about 30-40 minutes. Be prepared for a steep climb, and wear comfortable shoes.

Hiking
As you continue along the footpath, you will encounter a few signs guiding you toward the Riverston viewpoint. Keep following these signs as the path leads through beautiful landscapes and lush greenery. The final ascent to the viewpoint can be challenging, but the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills make it worthwhile. Ensure to carry water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the way.
