From the Polonnaruwa bus station, exit and turn right onto the main road (Sri Lanka - A11). Continue walking straight for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the X283 road. At this intersection, turn left onto the X283 road. You will pass by several small shops and eateries. Continue on this road for approximately 1 kilometer until you see the sign for Uththararamaya (Gal Vihara) on your right. The temple is located a short distance down this road.

If you're renting a bicycle, start from the Polonnaruwa bus station and head south on the main road (Sri Lanka - A11). After about 1.5 kilometers, take a left onto the X283 road. Cycle along this road for about 1 kilometer. Look out for the Uththararamaya (Gal Vihara) sign on your right. The cycling route is relatively flat, making it an easy ride.

From your accommodation, you can book a tuk-tuk to Uththararamaya (Gal Vihara). Simply tell the driver you want to go to Gal Vihara, which is well-known.
