Getting There

  • Tuk-Tuk

    From the center of Polonnaruwa, find a tuk-tuk stand or hail a tuk-tuk. Tell the driver you want to go to Wasgamuwa National Park Visitor Center located on B484. The fare should be discussed before starting the trip. The journey generally takes about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Enjoy the views along the way, and be sure to keep an eye out for local wildlife!

  • Public Bus

    Start at the Polonnaruwa bus station. Look for a bus heading towards Higurakgoda or any bus that stops near Wasgamuwa. Confirm with the bus conductor that it will stop at B484. The bus ride may take around 1 hour. Once you reach B484, ask the driver to drop you off at the Wasgamuwa National Park Visitor Center. The visitor center is a short walk from the main road.

  • Bicycle Rental

    If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Polonnaruwa. Head northwest on the B458 road, then take a left onto B484. Follow the road for approximately 18 km. It's a scenic ride, but be mindful of the traffic. The visitor center will be on your right as you approach.
