Getting There

Walking
Start from the center of Ella, near the Ella Railway Station. Head south on the main road (Ella-Wellawaya Road) towards the Hettipola area. Continue for about 2 kilometers until you reach the crossroads at Hettipola. At the crossroads, take a left onto the road leading to Hettipola. Walk for another 1 kilometer, keeping an eye out for signs directing you towards Weheragala Wewa. You will need to walk along a smaller path that leads towards the lake. Follow this path until you reach Weheragala Wewa.

Tuk-tuk
From Ella town, find a tuk-tuk stand or ask your hotel to arrange one for you. Request to go to Hettipola, specifically to Weheragala Wewa. The ride should take around 15-20 minutes. Once you reach Hettipola, the tuk-tuk driver can drop you off at the nearest point to the lake. From there, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the actual site of Weheragala Wewa.

Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from a local shop in Ella. Start from Ella town and head south on the Ella-Wellawaya Road. Continue straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach Hettipola. At the Hettipola crossroads, turn left and cycle approximately 1 kilometer until you find the signs for Weheragala Wewa. Park your bicycle at a safe spot and walk the rest of the way to the lake.
