From Zermatt station, take the Gornergrat Railway (GGB) train towards Gornergrat. The train journey takes about 30 minutes and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the iconic Matterhorn. You will need to get off at the Riffelberg station.

Once you arrive at Riffelberg station, exit the train and follow the signposts to the Riffelberg - Rotenboden Höhenweg. The trail starts near the station and is well-marked. The hike to Rotenboden takes approximately 1.5 hours and is relatively easy, with breathtaking views along the way.

Return Trip
To return to Zermatt from Rotenboden, follow the same trail back to Riffelberg station. From there, take the Gornergrat Railway train back to Zermatt station. Ensure to check the train schedule for return times.
