If you are driving to Gorilla Heights Lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, start from Kabale. Take the Kabale-Kisoro road (also known as the Rukungiri-Kisoro road). After about 32 km from Kabale, you will reach the town of Kisoro. Continue from Kisoro to the Nkuringo area, following the signs to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The lodge is located approximately 20 km from Kisoro, and the roads may be rough and hilly, so be prepared for a potentially bumpy ride. Once you arrive in Nkuringo, look for signs indicating Gorilla Heights Lodge.

To reach Gorilla Heights Lodge using public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) or bus from Kampala to Kabale. This journey typically takes around 8-10 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Once in Kabale, transfer to a matatu heading to Kisoro. This leg of the trip will take about 1.5 hours. From Kisoro, you will need to hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) or a private car to take you to Nkuringo, which is about 20 km away. Ensure to agree on the fare beforehand; expect to pay around UGX 30,000 to UGX 50,000 for the boda-boda ride.

If you are already in Kisoro and need to get to Gorilla Heights Lodge, the best option is to take a boda-boda. These motorcycle taxis are readily available and can navigate the hilly terrain of the area. The ride should cost between UGX 30,000 and UGX 50,000, and it will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on the road conditions. Make sure you wear a helmet and negotiate the price before starting your journey.
