Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Edinburgh Waverley Train Station, exit the station through the main exit. Once outside, head towards the East Market Street and turn right onto Market Street. Continue walking straight until you reach the junction with the Mound. Turn left onto the Mound and keep walking straight. You will eventually reach the National Gallery of Scotland on your right. Just after the gallery, take a right onto the stairs leading up to the Castle Esplanade, which will take you directly to the Edinburgh Castle Viewing Point.

  • Public Transport

    From the Grassmarket area, you can take Lothian Buses number 23, 27, or 41. Board the bus at the Grassmarket stop and alight at the stop called 'Castle Terrace'. After getting off the bus, walk towards the castle along Castle Terrace, which will lead you to the entrance of the Edinburgh Castle. Follow the signs to the Viewing Point once inside the castle grounds.

    If you are near Princes Street, head towards the Scott Monument and walk up to the top of the Mound.
