Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the city center, head east on Princes Street towards North Bridge. Cross over North Bridge to get onto the High Street (Royal Mile). Continue walking down the Royal Mile until you reach Canongate. The Palace of Holyroodhouse will be on your left-hand side at the end of Canongate. It is approximately a 20-minute walk.

  • Bus

    You can take bus number 35 from the city center (St Andrew Square bus station). Board the bus heading towards 'Sighthill' and get off at the stop called 'Holyrood, Scottish Parliament'. From there, walk down the Canongate street for about 5 minutes, and you will find the Palace of Holyroodhouse on your left.

  • Tram

    Catch the Edinburgh tram from any stop along the route towards 'York Place'. Get off at the 'York Place' stop and transfer to bus number 35 from St Andrew Square, heading towards 'Sighthill'. Get off at 'Holyrood, Scottish Parliament' and walk down Canongate for 5 minutes to reach the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

  • Taxi

    You can hail a taxi from anywhere in the city. Just tell the driver you want to go to 'Palace of Holyroodhouse' on Canongate. The journey should take around 10 minutes depending on traffic.
