If you're driving, start by heading towards Hexham. From Hexham, take the B6528 towards the north, following signs for the Northumberland National Park. After approximately 4 miles, turn left onto the North Haul Road (B6341). Continue on this road for about 1 mile, and you will find Black Middens Bastle House on your right. There is no entry fee, and parking is available nearby.

For those using public transportation, take a train from Newcastle to Hexham, which is approximately a 30-minute journey. Once in Hexham, you can catch the AD122 bus that runs towards the Northumberland National Park. Make sure to check the bus schedule as services may be limited. Get off at the stop closest to North Haul Road. Once you alight, it’s about a 20-minute walk along the North Haul Road to reach Black Middens Bastle House.
