Walking
To get to Palazzo Pontificio from the Sistine Chapel, exit the chapel and head towards the main entrance of the Vatican Museums. Once you are outside, turn left and walk towards Viale Vaticano. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Via della Conciliazione. At this point, you will see the Castel Sant'Angelo ahead. Cross the street and head towards the bridge (Ponte Sant'Angelo) that will take you over the Tiber River. Once across the bridge, take a right onto Via dei Coronari, and continue walking until you reach the Tiber River again. Walk along the riverbank until you reach the bus stop at Lungotevere dei Fiorentini. From here, take the bus (Bus Line 44) towards 'Castel Gandolfo'. The bus will take you directly to Piazza della Libertà in Castel Gandolfo, where you will find Palazzo Pontificio.

From the Sistine Chapel, exit and make your way to the nearest metro station, Ottaviano-San Pietro. Take the metro Line A in the direction of Anagnina. Get off at Termini station and transfer to Line A in the opposite direction, heading towards Battistini. Get off at the next stop, 'Anagnina.' From Anagnina, look for the bus terminal and board the bus that goes to 'Castel Gandolfo'. The bus will take you directly to Piazza della Libertà, where the Palazzo Pontificio is located.
