Getting There

    From the entrance of the Vatican Gardens, head towards the main gate of the Vatican City. Once you exit through the gate, turn right onto Via di Porta Sant'Anna. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via della Conciliazione. Cross the street and head towards the Tiber River. You will see a bus stop nearby. Take the bus number 40 towards Termini Station. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop 'Piazza dei Cinquecento'.

    After getting off the bus at Piazza dei Cinquecento, find the bus stop for line 15. Board the bus heading towards 'Piazza San Giovanni'. After approximately 20 minutes, get off at the stop 'Santa Severa'. From the bus stop, walk about 10 minutes following the signs to the Santa Severa Castle. The castle will be on your right.

    From the Vatican Gardens, walk towards the nearest metro station at 'Ottaviano'. Board the metro line A towards 'Anagnina'. After 5 stops, get off at 'Termini' station. Transfer to the regional train line towards 'Civitavecchia'. Stay on the train for about 50 minutes. Get off at 'Santa Severa' station. From the station, it's a short 15-minute walk to Santa Severa Castle.
