If traveling by car, take I-84 East from Portland. Continue for about 20 miles until you reach exit 22 for the Historic Columbia River Highway. Turn left onto the highway (also known as the Historic Columbia River Highway) and follow the signs for Vista House. The drive from I-84 to Vista House will take approximately 30 minutes. Look for the Vista House signs along the highway as you approach. There is parking available at the site.

Public Transportation
To reach Vista House using public transportation, take the MAX Light Rail from downtown Portland to the Gateway Transit Center. From there, transfer to the Columbia Gorge Express bus service, which operates during the summer months. The bus will take you along the Historic Columbia River Highway with stops at several attractions. Disembark at the Vista House stop (check the bus schedule for exact times). Please note that a fare is required for the bus, which costs around $5 for a one-way trip.

For the more adventurous, consider cycling to Vista House. The Historic Columbia River Highway features bike paths and stunning views. If starting from the Troutdale area, follow the bike route that leads onto the highway. This route is approximately 10 miles and can take about 1 hour depending on your cycling speed.
