Car
If you're driving, start from the Saguaro National Park Visitor Center located at 3693 S. Old Spanish Trail, Tucson, AZ 85730. Head east on Old Spanish Trail and merge onto E. Tanque Verde Road. Continue on Tanque Verde Road for about 9 miles. After crossing the bridge over the Tanque Verde Creek, turn left onto N. Sabino Canyon Road. Follow this road until you reach the parking area for the Upper Tanque Verde Falls Trailhead. Note that the road may be unpaved and can be bumpy in places, so drive carefully. There is no fee to park.
Public Transportation
To reach the Upper Tanque Verde Falls Trailhead using public transportation, take the Sun Tran bus route 6 from downtown Tucson to the intersection of Tanque Verde Road and Sabino Canyon Road. From there, it is approximately a 2.5-mile walk to the trailhead. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water, as the route may not have sidewalks and can be hot. Check the Sun Tran schedule for the latest information on bus times and routes.
Hiking
If you are already in Saguaro National Park and prefer to hike, locate the trailhead for the Upper Tanque Verde Falls Trail. The trail starts near the parking area on N. Sabino Canyon Road. It is a well-marked path but can be steep and rocky in places, so be prepared for a moderate hike. The trail offers beautiful views and leads to the falls where you can enjoy a scenic picnic. Make sure to bring enough water and snacks for your hike.
