From downtown Little Rock, take I-40 West to AR-300. Follow AR-300 West for approximately 12 miles to Pinnacle Mountain State Park. Parking is available at the visitor center, West Summit trailhead, and other designated areas. Parking is free. Be aware that parking areas, especially at the East Summit Trail, can fill up quickly on weekends.

From Little Rock, take the Line 5 bus towards 12206 W Markham St. From there, take a taxi or rideshare service to Pinnacle Mountain State Park, which is approximately 4 miles away. Pinnacle Mountain State Park, a 2,356-acre expanse in Pulaski County, Arkansas, is a natural escape just a short drive from the state's capital. The park's centerpiece, Pinnacle Mountain, rises dramatically from the surrounding bottomlands of the Big and Little Maumelle Rivers, beckoning visitors to explore its diverse landscapes.Formed millions of years ago, Pinnacle Mountain has a rich history. Early settlers referred to it as "Mamelle," French for a breast-shaped hill, which eventually evolved into the name Maumelle used for the nearby rivers and city. The mountain's eastern slope was a crucial source of material for constructing the Lake Maumelle dam in the 1950s. In 1973, the Arkansas General Assembly established Pinnacle Mountain State Park.The park offers over 33 miles of trails for hiking and 19 miles of mountain biking trails. Ascend Pinnacle Mountain via the West Summit Trail, a 1.5-mile climb with rewarding panoramic views. For a more challenging route, try the East Summit Trail, known for its steep inclines and boulder fields. The Base Trail provides a gentler, 2.5-mile loop around the mountain's base, connecting the East and West Summit trails. Explore the Arkansas Arboretum Trail, a paved, wheelchair-accessible loop showcasing the state's diverse flora.Beyond hiking, visitors can enjoy kayaking and paddle boating on the Little Maumelle River. The park also features picnic areas, playgrounds, and a visitor center with exhibits. The new visitor center opened in late 2023 and includes indoor and outdoor exhibits, restrooms and bike racks. Pinnacle Mountain State Park is also a certified Trail of Tears National Historic Site, adding historical significance to its natural beauty.
