Walking
From the city center (Getreidegasse), walk to the intersection of Getreidegasse and Linzer Gasse. Head onto Linzer Gasse and walk straight until you reach the Salzach River. Cross the river using the Makartsteg pedestrian bridge. After crossing, turn left along the riverbank and walk towards the Mönchsberg mountain. Follow the signs for the 'Festung Hohensalzburg' or 'Fortress Hohensalzburg'. The path will lead you uphill; it may be steep, but there are plenty of signs to guide you. Once you reach the top, you will find the fortress entrance.

Public Transport (Bus)
Start at the nearest bus stop to your location (e.g., Mirabellplatz). Take bus number 5 or 25 towards the 'Hohensalzburg' stop. The ride takes about 10-15 minutes. Once you get off at the Hohensalzburg stop, follow the signs indicating the direction to the fortress. It's a short walk from the bus stop to the entrance of the fortress.

From the city center, make your way to the base of the Mönchsberg mountain where the funicular station is located. You can walk from the city center, or take a short bus ride to the 'Festung Hohensalzburg' stop. The funicular will take you directly to the fortress entrance. Enjoy the scenic views as you ascend!
