Getting There

  • Car

    Begin your journey from Ruvubu National Park by taking the main road south towards the town of Gitega. Follow the signs for RN3 and continue driving for approximately 90 kilometers (56 miles). Once you reach Gitega, take the exit for RN1 heading towards the city of Bujumbura. After about 30 kilometers (18 miles), you will see signs for Nyungwe Forest National Park. Follow the signs for approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) until you arrive at the park entrance. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some sections of the road can be rough.

    From Ruvubu National Park, you will need to find a local bus heading towards Gitega. Buses are commonly available and can be found at nearby bus stations. The journey to Gitega should take about 2-3 hours. Once in Gitega, you will need to catch another bus or a shared taxi heading towards Bujumbura.
