From downtown San Mateo, walk to the nearest bus stop at 2nd Ave and B St. Take SamTrans Bus 292 heading towards 'Millbrae BART'. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the 'Burlingame Ave & California Dr' stop. Transfer to SamTrans Bus 30 heading towards 'San Francisco'. Ride this bus for about 45 minutes, and get off at the 'Golden Gate National Recreation Area' stop. Follow the signs to the park entrance.

Start at Central Park in San Mateo. Head south on El Camino Real, then turn right onto 3rd Ave. Continue onto the bike path towards the Bay Trail. Follow the trail for about 7 miles, which will lead you directly to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!

From the center of San Mateo, head north on B St towards El Camino Real. Once you reach El Camino Real, turn right and walk for about 1 mile until you reach the Hillsdale Shopping Center. This route is scenic and will take you about 2 hours.
