Getting There

    From the Lodgepole Visitor Center in Sequoia National Park, start by taking the Congress Trail which leads towards the Giant Forest. Continue hiking until you reach the intersection with the Generals Highway (CA-198). Once at the highway, follow the signs to the Giant Forest area. From here, you will need to head east on the Generals Highway until you reach the junction with CA-180. This is approximately a 5-mile hike.

  • Shuttle Bus

    Check the Sequoia Shuttle schedule for the next available bus from the Lodgepole Visitor Center. The shuttle will take you to various points in Sequoia National Park, including the Giant Forest. After reaching the Giant Forest, disembark and follow the signs to the Generals Highway. You will need to walk about 1 mile to reach the CA-180 junction, where the Kings Canyon National Park Scenic Byway begins.

  • Bicycle

    If you have a bicycle, rent one from local vendors in Sequoia National Park. Start at the Lodgepole Visitor Center and cycle along the Generals Highway (CA-198) towards the junction with CA-180. The ride is about 5 miles, and you will enjoy beautiful views along the way. Once you reach CA-180, you will find the entrance to the Kings Canyon National Park Scenic Byway.
