Hiking
From the Giant Forest area, start at the General Sherman Tree. Follow the Congress Trail for approximately 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with the Sherman Tree trail. Continue straight along the Congress Trail. After about 1 mile, you will come to a fork. Take the left path towards the Crescent Meadow. Once you reach Crescent Meadow, continue heading southwest for about 1 mile until you reach the trailhead for the High Sierra Trail. Follow this trail for another 2 miles, keeping an eye out for signs directing you toward Squatters Cabin. The cabin is located off the trail, so look for the markers that guide you to the historical landmark.

If you're planning to backpack to Squatters Cabin, begin your journey from the Lodgepole Visitor Center. Take the Twin Lakes Trailhead and hike for about 4 miles. After reaching the first lake, take a right turn onto the trail that leads to the High Sierra Trail. Continue hiking for approximately 2 miles. As you approach the Squatters Cabin, keep an eye out for the wooden signs marking the area. This route is ideal for those who want to experience the beauty of the Sequoia wilderness while making their way to this historical spot.
