Getting There

  • Walking

    From Tahoe City, begin at the Tahoe City Visitors Center located at 100 North Lake Boulevard. Head south on North Lake Boulevard toward the intersection with CA-89. Continue walking for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection of North Lake Boulevard and CA-89. Cross over to CA-89 and proceed along the sidewalk heading south. After approximately 2 miles, you will reach the entrance of D.L. Bliss State Park. Enter the park and follow the signs for the Vikingsholm Trail. The trail is about 1.7 miles long and leads you through beautiful scenic views until you arrive at Vikingsholm. The total walking distance from the visitors center to Vikingsholm is about 4 miles one way.

    For those who prefer biking, start at the Tahoe City Visitors Center (100 North Lake Boulevard). Rent a bike from one of the local rental shops nearby. Head south on North Lake Boulevard and continue until you reach the intersection with CA-89. Turn left onto CA-89 and follow the road for approximately 2 miles. After reaching the entrance of D.L. Bliss State Park, park your bike at the bike rack. Continue on foot, following the Vikingsholm Trail, which is approximately 1.7 miles to the site. The total biking distance is about 4 miles, plus the hiking distance to the castle.
