Discover more about Yosemite Falls Trailhead

Embark on a journey to the top of Yosemite Falls, where you'll witness the grandeur of one of North America's tallest waterfalls. The Yosemite Falls Trail, a historic path constructed between 1873 and 1877, ascends 2,425 feet (739 m) above the valley floor. Starting near Camp 4, the trail immediately climbs through a series of switchbacks in an oak woodland. As you ascend, the trees give way to exposed plateaus, offering panoramic views of Yosemite Valley, Half Dome, and Sentinel Rock. The trail presents a strenuous climb, with rocky terrain and loose sand, so hikers should be prepared with plenty of water and proper footwear. There are options for shorter hikes. A worthwhile trip at any time of year is to Columbia Rock, located one mile up the trail. From Columbia Rock, it is worth the time and energy to hike another 0.5 miles (0.8 km) to get a stunning view of Upper Yosemite Fall. At the top, take caution near Yosemite Creek, the source of the falls. For those seeking an extended adventure, continue to Yosemite Point for even more breathtaking views.
